I feel like the beginners should be the hosts, and non-beginners should be the guests. Also, this is the Beginner's forum, and the recitals have been taken over by non-beginners. Beginners may not be able to give much useful feedback, and may not even be able to articulate why they like a performance other than "it sounds great." So they simply stay silent, which is fine. Beginners who are afraid to sound dumb with their feedback. It's a little redundant given the replies you've already received, but I have been thinking about this for a while and I think these are the main reasons some participants don't give feedback:ฤก. It's no fun to listen carefully to everyone else's performance, and find no one has extended the same courtesy to yours. Sorry you didn't get that much feedback this round. I must admit, I was hoping for more discussion, especially from folks who contributed pieces to which the rest of us listened and responded. One of the improvisations I submitted led to some private coaching from another forum member, which has been ENORMOUSLY helpful.I listen for sounds that I like and things that the performer is doing well. The process of providing encouraging feedback is teaching me to listen to music much more carefully than I usually do.Even if the player doesn't leave me feedback, I appreciate hearing something new from that player. I have really enjoyed expanding my listening horizons during these recitals. The other submissions introduce me to some great music that I otherwise would never hear just following my own tastes. An upcoming recital motivates me to polish my playing to a level that I probably wouldn't achieve when just playing for myself. The recitals help me structure and focus my practicing so I'm ready to record something by the deadline.Getting feedback from others is a great benefit to these recitals. I agree that feedback from more people is better, and I also can imagine lots of reasons why someone wouldn't leave much feedback.
